Welcome,

I'm glad you're taking the first step to talk about how you've been feeling. Perhaps I can help.

My name is Jonathan Christie and I am a therapist working in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. I trained at The Minster Centre in London, one of Europe's leading integrative counselling and psychotherapy training institutions. I am a fully qualified, registered member of the BACP and I undertake regular CPD.

Prior to training as a therapist, my background was in the performing arts. Over time, I realised that what really moved me wasn’t just my craft, but a deeper curiosity about others - their stories, emotions and inner worlds.

This insight, combined with my own deeply reparative experience of therapy, led me to to pursue a path where I now help others to make sense of their most challenging experiences. At the heart of how I think about my work is a curiosity about what it means to be a person and how do we, as people, change?

Together

I work with people facing a broad array of challenges. Maybe you're feeling depressed or angry and you don't know why. Maybe anxiety has you going in circles. Or maybe something from your past keeps re-emerging and replaying itself. Whatever it is, together we will figure out what's happening for you, and from there, what you want to do about it.

Approach

Our work might involve exploring your past experiences and relationships and the ways in which they have shaped who you are today. We might look at the different parts of yourself which coexist within you. Or we might explore our own relationship and consider how it reflects your experiences outside our sessions - and what we can learn from that. My training in the integrative tradition allows me to draw on a number of therapeutic approaches and philosophies, and tailor them to you.

Practice

Over recent years, I have worked with people navigating a broad range of issues, including depression, stress, anxiety, trauma, addiction, performance anxiety, domestic violence, and childhood sexual abuse. All feelings are welcome and all parts of you can be heard. Whatever brings you to therapy, I will meet you with empathy and respect. That is my commitment to you.

I typically work in an open-ended fashion, although I can also offer a more solution-focused, time-limited approach. My philosophy is that the work continues for as long as you find it beneficial.
